Yes, it is recommended to wash your Buzzee wraps before the first use.
Hand Wash your Buzzee Wraps with COOL water. Warm/Hot water will melt the beeswax, making it into small white crumbles on the fabric. You can also use a soft sponge with a drop of mild dish soap.
It’s likely because of the temperature while the Buzzee Wrap was making its way to you.
Once you unfold and separate, the wraps will get softer from the warmth of your hands. If you still feel it’s still a bit stiff, wash them in cool water and air dry.
Buzzee Wraps get softer the more you use them over time!
No, the heat from the warm/hot food will melt the beeswax. It is only recommended to store cold/room temperature food.

The wraps would work great in the refrigerator. While covering the bowl/cup make sure you press the wraps firmly so the warmth of your hands can activate the wax and sticks to the cup firmly. When you put the cup in the refrigerator the wax will harden again creating a tight seal.
After washing, make sure the wraps are completely dry and store them in a storage drawer or rolled on the counter top in a glass/ceramic container.
